Transportation in StockholmStockholm airport To the other two airports, Bromma and Skavsta you can get by bus. The airport coaches (Flygbussarna) also go to other cities than Stockholm, like Uppsala and Västerås. Public transportation Subway: The Stockholm subway consists of three lines. Subway stations are easy to find because they are marked with a blue T for”Tunnelbana”. Many artists have painted the metro stops, especially on the blue line, so just sit back and enjoy your ride. The subway in Stockholm is normally punctual, and there is also a guarantee for refund if you get much delayed. Contact the operating company for more information about this. Local Bus: Tickets can be bought on the bus, however remember that a travel card for a period of time or with several tickets is more convenient than a single ticket. Tram: The one and only authentic tram in Stockholm, number 7 that is 50 years old and goes to Djurgården where many of the tourist attractions are. It departs from Norrmalmstorg and runs on the weekend during the winter, and every day during the summer months. The ferry service runs year round and it gives you a relaxing trip on Stockholm’s water. You can use a normal SL travel card or ticket also on this Djurgården ferry. The route Slussen – Djurgården (the stop is called Allmänna Gränd) is served every day. With this company you can also get away on an excursion to the archipelago. There are also a two one hour guided boat trips with the company Stockholm Sightseeing included, the Royal Canal Tour that takes you around the green and relaxing island of Djurgården where many museums are located. The other tour takes you around one of the Historical islands of Stockholm, Kungsholmen. With the Stockholm Card you are also allowed to park the car on outside street parking, and it is worth noting that it is not valid for parking houses. Transports to go outside StockholmBoat to the archipelago or Lake Mälaren: Have a getaway in the Stockholm's archipelago which is very relaxing and offers you green spots and fresh air. The archipelago consists of about 24,000 islands and on board of some of the boats a guide will tell you all about the archipelago and Stockholm’s beautiful location in between Lake Mälaren and the Baltic Sea. Cityterminalen is built together with the central train station and T-centralen where all the subway lines and commuter trains meet. In this complex of buildings you can also find tourist information, map of Stockholm and hotel booking. Train: The central train station, Stockholm Centralstation, Centralplan 1 STOCKHOLM is a central point with trains to the rest of Sweden, abroad and to the airport. By Car: Driving is quiet and easy for being in a capital, but yet not highly recommended in the city since you will probably find that the parking prices are quite high. A daytrip on a ferry between Stockholm and Turku takes about 11 hours. If you want to take the ferry to Helsinki, it takes longer and you probably need to book a bed on the boat.
